Painted, glazed and fired like the urns, then strung on a hand-tied silk ribbon. We paint the year on the reverse if you tell us it is for a first Christmas.
The stand is the part people do not expect. A keepsake that only comes out once a year gets looked at once a year; this one stays on the mantel.

First Christmas without him
It came out of the box a few weeks ago and went straight on the tree. Painted on both sides of the disc, with the year small underneath. Then in January the stand went on the mantel and it has been there since, which is the part I did not expect to matter.

Smaller than I imagined
Ninety millimetres across is smaller than it sounds, so the portrait is quite delicate at that size. Still lovely, and the stand means it is not packed away eleven months of the year.
