Why a person checks every one
A portrait is only worth keeping if it looks like your animal — the one ear that never stood up properly, the white patch that is not quite symmetrical, the way they held their head.
So a person in the studio works on every design and checks it against your photograph before it reaches you, then checks the finished piece against the proof you approved before it is packed. It is the slowest part of what we do, and the part we will not hurry.

What happens after you order
We read your photograph
Within one working day a person looks at your upload and tells you honestly whether it will work well — or asks for a better one.
We design it
Worked up from your photograph — the crop, the markings and the frame, settled before anything is made.
You approve it
Change anything, as many times as you like. Nothing is made until you say it is right.
We make it
Then check it against the proof you approved, and pack it by hand.
If it would not make us cry to receive it, it does not leave the studio.
What we will not do
We will not work from a photograph we cannot read, and we will not guess at a name. If your photograph is not going to work we will tell you as soon as we pick the order up, and hold it until you send something that does — and if we cannot make it work at all, you get your money back.
