About this piece
A honed stone with their profile cut into the face
This was the first thing we ever made. A friend lost a lurcher and asked for something she could keep in her pocket.
Every stone is different — we pick them by hand and choose the face that suits the profile. The engraving is cut with a diamond stylus rather than lasered, so it has depth you can feel with a fingertip.
Take as long as you need with the wording. We will hold the order open and nothing goes to the bench until you tell us.

I keep it in my coat pocket
I ordered this four days after we said goodbye and I could not bring myself to approve the preview for two weeks. Nobody chased me. When I finally did, it arrived in three days. It is the only thing that has helped.

Heavier than it looks
The basalt has real weight to it, which I did not expect from the photographs. The engraving is deep enough to feel with your thumb. I have it on my desk and I touch it constantly.

They talked me out of the marble
I wanted marble and they emailed to say that for the photograph I had sent, basalt would hold the detail better. They were right and they could easily have just taken the extra forty-five dollars.
